Sliiiiide

Hi

Any of you guys use the slide on the MD a lot? I never used it until
yesterday and it didn't seem to do much good. I wanted to use it to slide
notes when controlling my minimoog via a doepfer mcv4 so I programmed a note
on the MD, put another right next to it and put a slide on the first note.
Then I altered the pitchbend-setting on note number 2 but there was no
slide. Maybe I did something wrong -any ideas?

Anyway, controlling stuff with the midimachines is great fun! If you then
patch the audio of the other machine back thru the MD your in for one hell
of a ride!

I have used the slide a bit... works well... I believe that BOTH
notes need to be parameter locked, however.

Hi Niklas

I think the problem is that the slide on the MD doesn't transmit via
MIDI, it only works on parameter locks for internal MD sounds. So if
you want a slide effect on your Mini, send it a portamento on/off
message. This can be done by setting the MD midimachine up with a
MIDI controller to switch the portamento on/off (usually #65?). Set
the MCV4 up with the same controller number on its portamento on/off
page (if it has inbuilt portamento. If not, it can't be done). Values
from 0-63 will turn the portamento off, and 64-127 will turn it on.
The porta-rate can be set in your MCV4 (I guess).

I've done the same with a Korg MS-20 and a Kenton Pro-2000, and it
worked fine! :)

Good luck!

Regards,
Nils
