Buying a compressor just because it has a (often sub-standard) noise-gate on board.. is not a very wise thing to do (in my humble opionion). Gating, in this case, is a bad idea anyway. The SIDStation's noise is far from 'silent'.. and trying to gate that would definitely have a devastating effect on the SID's characteristic sound itself. That's why a denoiser (or even a well-configured EQ) is a much better choice. CraZ.
