but not a terribly useful improvement...  unless you've replaced the
electronics and software to actually utilize the multiturn pot.

I'm not sure that this even constitutes a 'mod'.  Looks nice, but - 
is the knob on the sid-station an endless rotary one?  If so, then 
the dial (which is designed for a standard 10-turn pot) isn't all 
that useful.
