first of all, i totally did not mean to post my complaints to the whole
list, it was an accident.
i have attached two 256kbits/s 44.1khz mp3's of the untouched and idle P63
patch "Electron".
i was curious about joeri's suggestion for switching chips, can this be
done without affecting the patches or anything else? it is probably just the
mos chip, but i do notice that his starts up faster, with faster graphics.

c-ya,

Hi,

I think it's good to discuss this in the list, I'm very interested to know what
the problem is.

OK, I've just listened to the audio files and the difference is indeed HUGE. I
don't know whether this is a difference in chip or anything else. I'll test with
my SID tonight!!!

Yes, the patches are stored in another chip, so I think it should be possible.
On the other hand, I'm not a technical wizard, so please correct me if I'm
wrong.

Anyway, I'll be back in a couple of hours and I'll check with this patch myself.
I'll report to the list.

Greetz,
Joeri

well, looks like i'll be sending my unit it for a look see. it may have
took some damage during shipping, so elektron is gonna pick it up.....what
good customer service!
if anyone knows anything about switching chips, please spread the
word...cuz it would be really cool if we could all just try different chips
anytime we wanted.
but to save the mainboard of the 'ss', it would be really awesome to build
a separate device for putting chips in, maybe even more than one, and to be
able to hot switch them, as mentioned earlier....cuz it's still pretty easy
to find chips, and they're so unique, for better of worse.

thanks for all the concern.
