No. The Sidstation needs an external sequencer to play. Not even when
programming sounds is there a preview function.

It doesn't need an external sequencer per se, but it does need something
to generate MIDI NOTE ONs, and usually that's where someone would use a
sequencer. :)

Tables can be used as sort of a crude mini-sequencer, but you still need
NOTE ONs I would imagine to trigger the patch.

If only the Sid had a Note Trigger button like the NORD Micro Modular...
why, I'd buy a dozen!

;)

You know what would be BALLS? To get that midi PIC chip from
http://ucapps.de and connect to the keyboard of those
"Echo Pianos" (you know, the calculator sized cheesy toy
pianos with the tiny rubber keys.) and mount them both
inside the sidstation, with a keyboard on front!

Or perhaps get an old Yamaha SY-10 sequencer and remount it inside
the sidstation, connect it permanently to channel 1 or something.

(SY-10 is teh sukc, but it = r001z 200)

heh...
