SIDstation/Elektron sighting

2002-11-28 by endlessnessisticman

There is an article in The Wire magazine from October 2002(#224) about
game music. There is a small bit about the SIDstation and Elektron.
I thought it was neat even though I don't own one.

There is also a review of C64 SID 6581 Massive on TigerBeat6 in the
same issue. Any more info anyone? Brotha P Touch & Lesser?
Supposedly "a mix CD of music made entirely on the SID chip".

I heard it. They should be shot for, in many cases, simply playing
old and contemporary tunes into a CD press. There are some actual
mixes at least. Probably about 50%. Probably about 1/4 of the original
mixes really delighted me. I would never pay money for it myself
when I can hear the originals or emulated for free! Also, the
whole CD is one, big track, which I find useless.

In short, I liked the tunes, because I've been listening to them
already for years now. The CD is basically a bunch of suckdogs
capitalizing on the current fad. I certainly hope AMJ and Tero kick
their asses, but they don't need to because they're already better
musicians.
