VS: [elektron] OS 1.12b crashes or not ?

VS: [elektron] OS 1.12b crashes or not ?

2003-05-08 by Toni Ahvenainen

Hi,

I decided to pop-in as nobody gives positive info on 1.12b OS. I've played a
lot with my MD with 1.11, 1.12 and 1.12b (the MD is number 44). I did get
two or three crashes with 1.11, but after then none. Absolutely not a single
crash. I works as it should. On a live situtation I would trust it. Seems
that you have somekind of hardware problem. Try to contact Elektron and ask
them to change it. If you live somewhere like US, it should be ok to send it
back as a warranty-repair and you don't have to worry about taxes. And yes,
it happens, people get broken new machines from time to time with any
company. Send it back and get a new one. You won't be disappointed.

Toni.

ps. the only time MD has worked oddly, was when I had a midi feedback loop
in MD, then it would stuck. So check that also.

I intended to use the MD live.
I spend a lot more money because
i prefer hardware and they are *usually*
more stable.
The more i dive in to the MD adventure,
the more Waldorf Attack, Ableton Live and
a laptop look attractive.

I so wish i'm wrong on this one...

Usually about three hours every ohter day on average. I don't get a
total crash but sometimes things like the 16 buttons on the bottom
dont work.
Once I tried to go to mute mode and it wouldn't. But I could trigger
the sounds with the buttons. The mute lights didn't go on. Other
times I couldn't change between patterns. I'd press the bank letter
and the bank lights wouldn't light and it couldn't change to another
bank. So it seems to be with the bank letters and the 16 lights some
kind of system miscommunication.
Maybe it's a buffer thing. It has happened after alot of live
programming and alot of action on the MD as of sequencing. This is
while using all types of machines from the drums to inputs to midi
machines. Really pushing the limits.
I have not installed the b version. By the way, I went to the
elektron site and didn't see the b version there last night.

Just to add my voice.....

I had hardware problems when I first got the MD, but since then it is
stable, solid and still the sexiest piece of gear I have ever owned =0) If
I could afford two of them I might even dump Cubase and just run Ableton
Live and some hardware (oh if only the MD did triplets... or they made the
send to the delay pre-fader so we could fake it).

thinking happy thoughts

2003-05-08 by simon leclerc

Yes, it looks like sending it back is the only solution.
Really glad to hear from someone who is not
experiencing any crashes with 1.12b.

Again, i'm mad cause it's hard for to believe
they have tested this unit b4 sending it, espacially
when quite a few people seem to have had
similar problems recently.

Thanks for the info Toni

Re: patten change via midi

2003-07-22 by polysikhs

hi all, i have a question. i have an mpc and want to switch patterns
in my md from the mpc, anybody an idea ? like when the mpc switches
to seq15, the md switches to pattern 12 or whatever. i have them
synced, no problem, but i don´t know how to do this. thanks for any
suggestions.
