Re: [elektron] Digest Number 862

Man, this group is such a tech support line. It made
me pretty twitchy while I was waiting for my unit,
actually, all these reports of problems.

I'd just like to say mine works wickedly. Having owned
a 909 and spent my time on r8s, 808s, tr505s, mc303s,
dr202s, etc blah mahabla, it is hands down the
greatest drum machine ever. It's even the best trigger
-> midi or trigger -> sound unit I have ever owned,
and I have two. Every day I wake up eager to play with
it.

If yours is broken return it. But could we have more
"here's a great idea for a sound or a track or a use
of MD" and less "mine is broken waaaaaaaaaah" please.

Tom

If yours got broken, i'd like to see how you would
react. My guess is you would have talked about it
on this forum like all the others.

Yours works fine, good for you.
When i get a unit that actually works, i'll
try to share my "great ideas" too.

mine is working fine so far as well (touch wood), but
I'd likely be making a lot of noise here (and
elsewhere) if it wasn't...

as they say, "walk a mile..."

Hi,

I believe the point being made was that this should not be a purely 'tech
help' list. Of course if you have a problem you should be able to talk aout
it and get any available help from the list members, but if that is the only
traffic, it will not be any fun to be on the list, and many people would not
bother to stay.
What is needed is a bit more sharing of fun stuff and ideas (yes I will try
to do my part, though at the moment I am too busy for much music making). In
all honesty we all have stuff to share that would be of interest, it's just
that most of us keep our good ideas to ourselves, perhaps thinking of them
as our 'edge' over the competition. In reality, if we begin to share what we
know, it helps us all =0) . Anyone who has been on the Nord Modular list
will understand what I mean. Peace and love to you all,

thinking happy thoughts
amos

Re: [elektron] Digest Number 862(update on ideas)

2003-05-21 by endlessnessisticman

Well here's what I've been up to with the MD.
I've been working on a track. Since i usually come up with the best
part first, I put that at 7-10. I'm using it with an Indigo 2. I
have a usual 4/4 with about 53% swing (probably need to increase
this). Gotta have that swing to add to the funk. I got a OH at the
off beat but only at bars say 2 and 4 with a delay to hear it at 1 and
3. I got a B2? bass drum doing the kind of drum and bass wow bassline
(nice distortions in there). Actually the two distortion parameters
in the first menu can make it a deep soft or a deep hard sound. Using
the MD for mainly reverb and gating effect from the indigo but I am
thinking of taking some reverb out. I also have an option to use the
indigo inputs too.

I got another set on banks 3-6 like 7-10 and a breaking intro on 1-2.
I got a transition on 11 and I need to come up with some more.
However I like the bassline I think it is taking over the mix and may
take that out and use a sound from the indigo. I plan to add some
samples using kontakt. I also have to come up with some more sounds
on the indigo to replace others as i go in the track. As far as the
drums it's fine i may take out some inaudible rimshots and stuff.
More sequencing to do. Oh yea, already finished using the eq and
compressor in the master effects to get the sounds out. Once I get
this song finished I'll get it burned to cd and uploaded along with
some older crap I did.
