FW: new drum machine

FW: new drum machine

2003-06-12 by :'(

wow, this is the first thing that I have ever seen that comes even close to
providing competition for the MD.....it looks pretty hot actually

http://news.harmony-central.com/Newp/2003/PX-7.html

E-MU Systems has announced the new PX-7 Command Station, a drum machine that
features a powerful sequencer and 128-voice synthesizer. The PX-7 features a
multitrack, pattern-based sequencer with real-time, grid and step recording
capabilities, 13 velocity sensitive pads, 32 MB of brand-new acoustic and
electric drum and percussion sounds, three additional ROM expansion slots, a
digital output, new Version 2.0 software, and a host of performance knobs,
buttons and switches. The PX-7 will be available this month and has a U.S.
retail price of $995.

if I didn't own the MD already, I'd give this thing a serious look
see.....nice piece of kit anyway. Never have understood why emu didn't make
a sampler in the 'command station' style...

Bar the new sounds and increased price how is it
different from the XL7 and MP7?

I can't remmeber the last time E-Mu did something

Those things also have the same look as the old Ensoniq ASR-X
boxes... I used to own one and it was utter trash...

It's not competition. It's a companion at best.
Velocity sensitive sequencing is its main appeal to me.

In this case i would prever an MPC2000XL (which i allready own, it
uses the samples you want and akai got much more sequencer-expierience
than emu. Well, i am not an emu-fan...
i am waiting for the monomachine...

Can you use a footpedal to tap tempos into the MPC?
Can you trigger phrases from a single key?

  Yes and yes.
