I just got a used MD, but the bassdrum sounds very strange to me.

I'm not sure if its my inability to use the machine yet or a fault in the
one i've purchased but the bassdrum sounds really weak & has intermittent
clicking at the attack stage. If i set the bassdrum to any of the outputs
it's the same result.

Its got O/s 1.12b. I've done a full factory reset & the diagnostic program
at the start has shown no faults.

I'm hoping that the answer is something simple & i'm just stupid, but i need
to be sure that the machine is fully operational or i'll be sending it back
to who i got it from.

To demonstrate, i've programmed a very simple bassdrum pattern with a beat
on the 1,7 & 9 step @100bpm, i've then switched from kit 1 to kit9 every two
bars & uploaded it to here -

Well, it's just a wild quess, don't know at all how to MD reacts in such a
situation, but it sounds a little bit like a midi-loop ( MD plays note,
sends midi-out, some device echo's it back, MD plays same note again ). So,
if you unplug the midi-cables , does it sound the same ?

Another experiment : copy the machine from  track 1 (BD) to another track
and listen if it sounds the same there.

I've sorted teh midi-routing & its sounds now like i would have expected it
to - great  :)
