Dead August

Dead August

2003-08-17 by Col Dee

I take it we're not getting the Monomachine this month, which was
indicated by Elektron as the month of its release? Q3 2003 - wouldn't
August 2003 be around the EXACT time then?

Elektron don't seem to be showing much business sense. No pages or
details added to www.monomachine.com... no updates here... and (IMHO)
worst of all, no sound demos...

What on earth are Elektron playing at?

Seems like Taking The Piss Out Of A Captive Market to me...

Not too concerned about it. As long as they can stay in business.
Seems like this monomachine may be the end of them. I've heard of
other companies have gone down because of too much energy into one
product. It should be good since they are taking the time to get it
right. I guarantee they will have a working model for the show. I
don't work for them or have any info, it's all instinct.

well, the Elektron friend update DID say August, in fact. however, it
also said that everything's finished and the MM would have been
released in June; however, they were delayed the delivery of the
keyboards in June and thus pushed the release date back.
so maybe this further delay is the fault of their keyboard supplier
as well...

but at any rate, August isn't over yet; so hang in there. hopefully
you'll get your MM soon.

I guess I'm just not too sympathetic with those who are anxious to
purchase, since I'll have to wait awhile for mine (which is fine,
it'll be years before I'm bored with the MD) ;-)

exactly! bring on the demos (so that I can yearn for it even more)!

Joe.

STOP!
I spoke last week to someone directly at ELEKTRON.
---------------------------------------------------
This very friendly person prommised me that there will be some NEWS
this week. He didn't said, if it is one there Webpage or by mail...
....by the way, at the end of this call, i heard something in the
background, a sequence was playing and it wasn't the MachineDrum!

Keep cool,
i will buy Monomachine as soon it is available!

Name one manufacturer that actually DID ship a new product when they said they would! This is typical for the industry, and I think Elektron was just trying to be optimistic and I'm sure their target was/is August but any number of things could have happened. Problems with parts suppliers, bugs in code, who knows...

I saw their protoype of the unit at the NAMM show in January 2003. It looked great. I would imagine between then and now it has been non-stop programming and all of the fun involved in developing a new product.

Remember, patience is a virtue ;-)
