Sampler?

Sampler?

2003-08-06 by olster2003

Can anyone recommend a sampler to go with my MD-sequenced, all-
hardware setup. Older Akais are two-a-penny at the moment but I'm
also condsidering a Korg ES1 or ESX (when they come out). How do
other people here use samples in an all-hardware setup?

Thanks
OL

I use an E-mu E6400 Ultra and I love it... However, I don't
sequence it with the MD so I can't comment there ;)

I can say that the EOS samplers are DEEEEP machines. I've had it
for over a year now and I'm still learning new tricks and features
all the time when I mess with it.

Much like the MachineDrum in that respect!

For a hardwaresampler i would really recommend a Roland 760.
You can use a TV monitor and a mouse to control it.
Looks like C64 but sounds really great.
This is a s close to softwaresamplers you can get with hardware.

best

I would agree with some of the others here about the Akai. I had an
mpc 2000. I had it for years and it was never easy to use. It was
great for sequencing though. It could live record next to the md.

Not so easy to use as a sampler. Tiny screen, disk space, etc. The
newer Z series samplers may be better. Something I'm considering. I
thought of the korgs, but they don't seem to have much storage
space. Unless they have usb. Those Z have that option. No little
cards to throw around and lose.

I'll second the vote on the Roland S760. Yeah, it's 6-9 years old now,
yeah, it's only 32mb max, but it's likely to hold the sampling crown
for me forever.

If there ever were a sampler to hold a place in electronic music
history the same way the DX7 or the like, this would be it.

same for me : S-760 highy recommended, maxed out at 32mb
+ additional OP-760-1 card (digital outputs, tv out + mouse)

Nothing yet compares to those filters...
for more info about the S-760 : http://s760.cjb.net

I am selling a brand new maxxed out Yamaha A5000 sampler.
128MB Ram, Internal HD, Internal Zip, loads of CDs.
Superb machine. SUPER low price. I just need the money.
