Midi machines. On the cc# and control.

Midi machines. On the cc# and control.

2003-08-19 by endlessnessisticman

Anyone find using the midi machines on another synth like a VA or more
specifically like the ms2000 is a bit strange. You usually have it
say a cutoff set on the MD at 60. It will always shoot back to 60 on
the you external module. You can't edit well in external gear's menus
this way. Would anyone think it would be easier to have this cc#
changes not sent all the time? Leave it neutral. I don't know how
the evolver reacts. I see many people use that with the MD. Any
thoughts? I'd like to get something out to elektron. Maybe they'll
have time once the MM gets out to update the MD OS with some input.

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that:
- you're using the MD to control MIDI CC #'s on your MS2000
- you use the MD to set a particular parameter's value to 60
- you then try to change it *on* the MS2000 to something other than 60
- the next time the MD triggers the MS2000, it sets the value back to
  60

right?

I think that would be great if once you changed it on the MS2000, it
wasn't changed anymore from the MD. but that would require a
bipartite MIDI relationship between the two and thus probably won't
happen.

but you're saying that it should only send CC's *sometimes* right?
isn't that what parameter locks are for? i.e. when you want the
parameter's value sent, set it up in a parameter lock to be sent;
otherwise, don't have anything assigned to that controller at all (so
the MD won't send the controller's value when it triggers the MS2000).
