[elektron] MM hold option for the joystick

[elektron] MM hold option for the joystick

2003-09-26 by Joe

Hey all,
I submitted a feature request, but I was wondering what you all thought
about this...

Using the joystick, I think it would be great to be able to capture the
parameter changes you've made (with it). That way, you can release it
and edit more stuff + move to other tracks.

Now, this currently *does* work in the MM. If you're holding the
joystick somewhere and change active tracks, the joystick position is
held on the prior track. But if the new track is unmuted, then you'll
get some parameter changes there as well. So this is less-than-ideal in
my opinion. It'd be better if we could just press some buttons to
capture the parameter changes.

I was thinking about a hold button also, I use this feature a lot with the
ribbon controller on my Andromeda.
The button would preferably be close to the joystick so you could hit it
with the same hand that is moving the joystick.

As an addition, it may be cool to allow the on-screen parameter knobs to
show the value of the parameter changing as you move the joystick, and also
to allow the "held" values of the joystick to be permanently applied to the
track (so you can capture the perfect sound permanently).

cheers
JK

possibly... but sometimes I'm turning a knob and moving the joystick at
the same time. so if it tried to switch screens during that, there might
be problems (at the very least, I'd have to do more button-pressing to
page to the screen I want).

well, that's what I meant by "held". :-) what did you mean by it?
