Help with Sidstation!!!!!!!

Help with Sidstation!!!!!!!

2003-09-27 by twobitnoise

Hi,
I've got a problem with my sidstation. I was trying to do the flash
upgrade, but the second sysex file won't load. I've tried just about
everything with the loading program, midi ox, but it just won't load.
If anyone who's more experienced with this could give me a hand I'd
be so very thankful.

                                              Thanks,
                                              Isaiah

I haven't done any Sysex dumps to my Sid, but I have done MIDI dumps
using MIDI-OX. So maybe this will be useful....

The big problem with MIDI-OX is that sometimes it is either too slow or
too fast for your device. So try changing the speed settings and the
buffering (IIRC, there's a "settings" menu in the Sysex drop-down list).

If that doesn't work, you might want to try Sysex97
(http://burp.nl/dx/software/sysex97.zip). I had some problems dumping
Sysex files to my Machinedrum with MIDI-OX but this utility worked
perfectly with the exact same files.

Good luck!

If the sysex is in midi format, you could use Windows Media Player. I
use it all the time now. I never have problems trying to figure out
the speed or anything. Just make sure you have the proper settings.
You can't save, but who's saving?

If all the LEDS are firmly lit when you power it up (not flickering)
you could still have some luck. That shows that the emergency flash
boot is active and should be ready for accepting the OS.
