Monomachine - broken joystick

Monomachine - broken joystick

2003-09-28 by Joe

well....it's not a *huge* deal. the top metal part came off of the
shaft. there's some glue residue on there, so it looks like they're
just glued onto the shaft. which is unfortunate. they *should* have a
hole in the metal part with a set-screw to secure it to the shaft. but
I'm guessing that Elektron didn't design the part itself...

those of you that own synths with similar joysticks, have there been
any reported problems with them?

anyhoo....I emailed Elektron, but then I wanted to play some more. :-)
I didn't feel like waiting until monday for a reply (I'm guessing
they're not around on the weekends), so I just glued it back on there.
It seems pretty secure, but we'll see what happens.

so far, though, I've not had any major problems with the MM (<crossing
fingers>). hardware problems were the only thing I worried about for
the beta release. software is easy to upgrade; but losing the MM for a
few weeks (along with the shipping costs) to get it repaired would SUCK!

this thing is just breathing ideas into me (just like the MD) and I'm
very happy with it, even with the joystick problem.

Joe.

It's "standard" part from a big manufacturer (came across this spring if
it's the one I think, and there's not a lot of people making joysticks out
there you know)). It shouldn't have gone like that anyway.

As far as I know, none this size is screwed. :-/

The metal top part of the joystick is designed by us, and is
handmade.

That is right, we couldn't get a screw to fit in there, so we went
for the gluing solution. They shouldn't fall off though, we need to
look into that...
