4 MIDI channels on machinedrum?

4 MIDI channels on machinedrum?

2003-10-06 by dogead2000

I understand the machinedrum has four MIDI channels, now i may be
making myself look rather stupid here but could someone explain to me
the benefit of having four.
I understand with a synth which is multi timbral more MIDI channels
is an advantage as it allows you to sequence different sounds on
different tracks in your sequencer but with the machinedrum all 16
drums are accessable from the same MIDI channel.
Any info much appreciated as allways.

CC's
The triggers are the same on all four channels.
To record all controllers (CC's) there are 4 midi channels.
Track 1 to 4 on channel 1, 5 to 8 on channel 2 etc..
Elektron decided to use standard CC's for compatibility.

So does that mean drums 1-4 are sent on midi channel 1 and drums 5-6
are sent on channel 2, or is it just the controller changes which are
sent on different channels.

Do you have the MD manual? It's all very clear in there.
But to be at youre service: ;-)
The drums can be played at all of the 4 channels, for every channel
it's the same keyboard range so every midi channel can play all the
16 drums, the CC's are spread on the 4 channels as explained.
