sync to tr808

2003-10-27 by poyaochuang

anyone have experience syncing md with 808
I try to slave 808
but it only play few notes then stop
if I press stop, 808 can play continously, but that is not right

when I master clock 808
it is fine, md will play and such
one thing, switching patterns on 808 with cymbol and non-cymbol
patterns will cause 808 and md to messup the beats, then I have to
stop

help

I'm syncing my 808 with the MD, but in order to do that I am using a
Doepfer MSY2. See http://www.doepfer.de/msy2.htm for more information.

The MD is sending MIDI out, and the 808 needs sync-24 in. Even though the
din contacts used for MIDI and sync-24 look exactly the same, it is not
the same communication protocol that they use. The MSY2 converts between
MIDI and sync-24.

Did this help you? I did not really understand how you connected the MD
and the 808 to each other.

I use the same company's products to sync my machinedrum to my 303s
and/or to my 606. Doepfer is trustworthy.
