Sequencing Access Virus C with MachineDrum???

Sequencing Access Virus C with MachineDrum???

2003-11-09 by crvenazvezda91

Hi,

Chasing some advice on sequencing my Access Virus C with my
MachineDrum by using the "Midi" machines...

Basically, how do I use program change messages with the MD and the
Virus?

I set up a midi machine to paly the Virus on say, channel 1. The
default program change is say; 8

If I then try and change it on a step then it sends a control change
message for that 1 step only. (and stuffs up the sound by making the
virus flick patches for one step)

Do I need to setup different kits with different midi machines?

Or anyone else got any advice on doing this? Especially with the
Virus?

Thanks,
Rusty

you don't want to use parameter locks like that within one pattern. so
there's too options:
1) if you want to change virus patches on the fly, just change the program
change knob by hand (but you'll probably want the patches to be adjacent
so that you don't play all patches as you scroll between the new and old
ones)

2) create two patterns, one with the new patch locked (via the program
change parameter) and one with the old patch locked; then just change
between them when you want to change patches; they can have the same MD
kit and internal pattern if you don't want to change what the MD's doing

good luck!
Joe.

You could always program a pattern with your default patch. Then each
new pattern starts with program change. Or you could have a new kit
each time. You could also use multi-mode on the virus and various
midi machines on the MD if you aren't using too many different sounds.
I don't think it will stuff up the sound unless you are using too
many sounds.
