New Elektron Groups

2003-12-04 by machinedrum99

I think we should have a seperate group for each Elektron product.
Does anyone else agree?

I own a Machinedrum and I'm not really interested in hearing about
the Monomachine or Sid Station. Seems like all we hear about in
this group is the Monomachine now.

I propose we have a different group for each product. What do you
guys think?

First the group helps Elektron to know what's up with their products,
they don't censor and stay quiet save for Bug list and feature request.
So it's easier for them to keep one group.

Second, SIDstations as a "dead" product is not a main talk in the
group. Questions sprout from time to time but you can't say you're
flooded with ;)

Third, MD and MnM are rather similar products in their OS from what
I've understood (still haven't touch a MnM, should be the case during
this month) so a part of the manipulation of both synth is relevant for
both.

Fourth, you're NEVER in the obligation to read ;)

Fifth; To help your monoMD mania, we could put flags in the title as
I've already proposed on a different subject so you can filter mail
easily. I proposed some time ago whan I bought my MD from a member the
[good trader] [bad trader] flags, we can use the [WTB] [FS] too (want
to buy and for sale). so we could use [SID] [MD] [MnM] flags for
instrument specific questions, I think myself it'd be more of a pain in
the a** but…

Sixth, well, I don't think the actual flow of mails is THAT annoying,
I'd encourage you to try Analogue Heaven for example to know what it
can be… Maybe you take the mailing list way of doing things a bit too
personally.

Now even if I wasn't a prominent member of the list, I have to say I
will be very quiet from now on MD matters as I must sell mine (don't
ask forif you want to buy it, it's almost done already). My banker will
be very pleased of this situation which is not my case. (boohoo hooo
oooo :-/

As the French translator of the MD manual, I can still be of some help
for those French speakers not enough familiar in English who need some
input. Especially as I have to revise the manual again, put it at OS
level, correct errors (it's in the making, but I have a complete
overall of the layout to make now and other things to do, so…). So if
you have some questions still, I will happily answer to them. :)

I tried starting a SID Station news group some time ago...got about
10 members and no posts in two months so I took it back down...same
with my Akai S3000xl group...there is one now but the moderater has
not touched it in forever and so new people cant join...but I
degress...its worth a shot but I fear that this group will still be
the backbone of the Elektron discussions.

This is the reason why I don't think it'll work. While it does seem
like a good idea. I thought about it myself. There were two other MD
forums that never took off. Soon enough after the release of the MnM
there will be more posts. But once a new OS for MD comes out it'll
swing the other way. And if Elektron has a new product, it'll be
about that. I'm tired of seeing all the MnM talk, but I just ignore it.

If you want more talk about the SID just post comments.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
