Monomachine OS0.98 released!

Monomachine OS0.98 released!

2004-01-15 by daniel_elektron

Monomachine OS 0.98 has just been released. It brings a few bug
fixes, and comes with the first harvest of presets! Go try them out
and see if they maybe bring some inspiration on new ways of using
the Mono.

To hear the presets you need to do a factory reset after upgrading.
If you want to keep your current patches you need to dump them over
SYSEX first. Don't forget to do the verify after sending them, so
you are sure they went through correctly.

The presets are located at patterns A01 to B15. First select multi-
trig mode, select one of them, and try pressing a key. Some presets
use multi-trig mode sequence start/transpose and some all-
track/split key. If the sequencer is not used for the multi-trig
action you can also press play to listen to a demo pattern. For all
presets you can do some fun with the joystick. Try moving it in all
directions and listen to the effects. Some sounds totally transform
as you move the joy around.

The OS will not be renamed into 1.0 until the day we start shipping,
as we want to be able to fit in possible updates.

As the time was tight for compiling the presets we will do another
revision in some weeks with the ones we didn't have time to fit in.
There may be additional banks released at later times like we did
for the SidStation.

Let me know which ones are your favourites!

Monomachine OS1.00 released!

2004-01-23 by daniel_elektron

Someone beat me to the announcement, but anyway,

Monomachine OS 1.00 has just been released. Some bugs have been
squashed, and the presets are updated (some levels, some joystick
assignments, one preset dropped and two ones added). To hear the new
presets you need to do a factory reset. Backup your data before as
the factory reset empties the memory. The VO is adjusted so it never
distorts internally.

We will continue to update the OS intensively for yet a while until
we are sure there are no further major bugs. The beta page will stay
online, please use the forms to report suspicious behaviour.

I will try to get time to compile more presets for an upcoming
release, so please, if you've got something you think would fit in
there, please send them my way (info@...)! Just don't forget
the joystick assignments.

As the 1.00 is released the public sales has been starded, and SFX-6
and SFX-60 units started shipping yesterday.

Thanks everyone who participated in the early beta development, your
support and assistance has been greatly appreciated.

The programmers of the presets so far are:

A01, A03-A16: Erase
A02, B01-B05: Jesper Kouthoofd
B06: Gerald Stevens
B07-B08: Andrew Denyes
B09-B12: Roonan
B13-B14: Daren Ager
B15-B16: C. Storm

Monomachine OS1.01 released!

2004-02-03 by daniel_elektron

Monomachine OS 1.01 has just been released. This is mainly a bug fix
release. Notes could get stuck when changing patterns, and LED's
could get stuck when using advanced trig-pos settings. The LED's in
multi trig seq start now also follow the key-transpose. The
distortion have been updated. Now the distortion should affect the
sound level less. This might affect some of the presets slightly.
They will be updated for the next release.

You will find the OS image at:

Monomachine OS1.02 released!

2004-02-10 by daniel_elektron

Monomachine OS 1.02 has just been released. This release fixed a few
bugs, and add 10 new presets! The presets have also been adjusted
for the new distortion level compensation introduced in OS1.01. To
check out the new presets you need to do a factory reset after
upgrading. Note that this erase the current memory, so if you want
to keep your data you should back it up first.

You will find the OS image files here:

Congrats!

Are there any more "Storm" presets? That was my favorite from the
last OS (along with those very 80's sounding presets @B2 and B3) :-)

Maybe I can make you happy by letting you know that mr C. Storm have
contributed with 10 new presets, making 12 in total. I think you will
enjoy the C05, that's my favourite of his presets. The
original "Storm" preset has been renamed into "Jungles" in this
edition.

Mr. Storm is actually the producer of the BeatBox and E12 samples. I
think you can tell he really knows his way around them when listening
to his work. He is also part producer of the Machinedrum sample CD
(together with Erase) if you happen to have that.

But don't miss out on the new ones between B15 and C02! There are
some really nice new user contributed presets there, including two
pioneering donators.

Here follows the updated preset designers list:
(sorry I forgot to post it together with the announcement)

A01, A03-A16: Erase
A02, B01-B05: Jesper Kouthoofd
B06: Gerald Stevens
B07-B08: Andrew Denyes
B09-B12: Roonan
B13-B16: Daren Ager
C01: John Kimble II
C02: Ravi Ivan Sharma
C03: Daniel Hansson
C04: -
C05-C16: C. Storm

Yes! That makes me very happy; now I just need to download it and
update my MnM.

Exactly. And the sounds of those machines are fantastic, so kudos to him!

No I don't; but I'd like to check it out someday. I'm sad that
Odegaard didn't contribute to it, but still interested to hear
what Storm and Erase have done.

are preset submissions still being accepted?

Thanks for all the info!

Odegaard was planned to be included as well, but due to different
problems we couldn't make it.

> are preset submissions still being accepted?

We do not have any current plans to update the presets, but there is
a chance we might extend also to the D-bank in the future, so if you
have something nice and would like to see it included, send it our
way!

If we get the time we might also release additional patch-banks with
some theme (like super-6-track-mono-sounds) like we have done for the
SidStation.

Audio connectors

2004-02-11 by Paul Nagle

A quick one Daniel - are the audio connectors balanced or unbalanced?
The manual does not seem to have specifications listed.

Thanks

Paul
