who's interested in a Monomachine case?

who's interested in a Monomachine case?

2004-01-19 by Joe

I'm going to check around and see if any of the custom case manufacturers
will give us a group discount on Monomachine (keyboard) cases. but I'd like
to see how many people would be on board before I do. so reply to this thread
if you're interested. of course, interest may change depending on how much
the discount is; but I'm just trying to get a ballpark figure here.

case specs will be along the lines of:
- ATA-rated
- 1/4" plywood laminate
- nickel-plated hardware
- all recessed latches (2 of them) and handles (3 of them)
- steel split rivet construction
- 1-1/2" of foam on the sides and bottom
- 2" of foam on the top (to allow a joystick cutout)

here's an idea of what it would look like (though this photo includes
casters on the case):
http://www.calzonecase.com/pics/Music_cases/keyboardCutour_pop.jpg

the current quote is $250 (from Calzone cases); just to give you an idea of
what we're trying to discount *from*.

Joe.

For your info: I have already a custom-Case (pic on
http://homepage.mac.com/dzurkirchen --> Elektron). This is made by a
company in Germany. The Price was really fair (similar to the price,
mentioned above). Elektron has already an offer for some cases... so
they are looking for a case-solutions for the elektron-gear.

Cheers
Daniel

Hi!

I´d be interested in that project.
We could do it like this:
Let´s see how many people are interested,
and then we can ask for the price at several manufacturers.

I definitely need a case.
But I think adding more space for the joystick is not necessary,
mine has fallen off anyway.

best
Flo

I've already asked around a bit and the best price vs. quality case
seems to be the Calzone. but yes, I'll still check elsewhere.

well, I guess those participating would have to vote on that. or we
could just add the extra space (it's just 1/2") anyway and people could
either make a cutout for the joystick or not, it's up to them.

this seems to be a real problem. yours is the third report of this I've
heard and mine fell off at one point as well. super glue seems to work
very well for repairing it :-)

my stick fell off too, i asked daniel about them and
he said the first few had bad glue (mine is #4, i
guess #1 has fallen off too) i might thread my nub and
make a new stick so i can remove it when transporting
it in a case. i think that would be a good feature for
the production...

how do you know the production number? can you tell from the
serial number?

yes. or ones with a set screw which can be screwed in by hand.
then there would be no problem at all with removing it.

Joe.

Dear all.
I have already a case for MD and MM (pic on
http://homepage.mac.com/dzurkirchen --> elektron). The case is from
Germany for a fair price. I have already told to petter and he has an
offer for a few units. So, Elektron is also interested in buying and
selling cases!

Cheers, Daniel

Thanks for the information. I have spoken with Petter regarding this
subject. They are indeed looking into having some custom cases made for
the Monomachine keyboard, but the process is still in its very early
stages and specs + price haven't been dealt with yet. Therefore, I am
still encouraging those who would like a case to contact me and be added
to the list. I will then seek out companies for a case discount and will
report this back to all interested parties as well as to Elektron, as they
may be interested in the same manufacturer.

Joe

Is this a case wich could hold both the MD and the MM?
Looks like it on the picture.

Ronald.

The case which I'm coordinating the mass purchase of holds only the
Monomachine keyboard.
