SFX-60 strange release sound

SFX-60 strange release sound

2004-01-31 by schmackofanz

hi,
yesterday my SFX-60 arrived.
I love the sound and the possibilities.
Another Elektron classic!
Only problem sofar is that i get a strange release behaviour with some of the sounds.
When i lift the finger of a key the pitch of the note drops to a different pitch and stays
there for a while.
I can reduce it with the AMP section but then i get a really short sound.
Is there a trick to have a full sustain without that releasebehaviour?

Whats even more strange is that no matter what key i play the notes will all drop to
the same pitch!

Any idea what i am doing wrong?
I am using my V-Synth on channel 9 with the Autochannel function.

thanks
Hans

Does the problem go away if you turn the unit off and on again? I
have seen a bug like this - it is easier to notice with the SF-6,
because you see that it thinks one of the keys is "permanently
depressed" (LED is on). It is usually a middle C or D, so when you
release your note, it drops back to this note. Try to see if it is a
fixed note that it is returning to, and not a fixed pitch drop
relative to the note you play.

I have also noticed that the SF-6 gets confused by chords, and will
leave a note "playing", causing problems. This was really apparent
in the second to last OS update, but seems much better now. Try and
see if you play a bunch of chords in succession if you can make notes
hang.

Document the bug and submit it at the monomachine.com/beta/ page.

thanx for your reply.
the pitch drops to a constant note and not relatively.
i get the same effect even from the trigger pads.
but not with every sound......

right now i am crunching on the task of recording a simple drumbeat.
i have assigned the bbox to a track but after recording i can see the events but i dont
hear them.

This is a bug! You have experienced a "hanged note". It usually
appears when you change from one pattern to another, and use lot's of
trig-pos settings, or advances arpeggiators (like in many of the
presets). Pres "STOP" twice, and it should be gone. We will try to
address all occasions of this in the next update due soon.

Hi Daniel,
thank you for your post.
Actually i get that bug when i simply hit some TRIG buttons when the machine sits
idle (no pattern or arpeggio is running) or play on a keyboard.

I also experienced some strange behaviour with the LFOs. When i use multiple LFOS
all set to TRIG to animate a sound rhythmically they drift out of sync.

Just a minute ago i was working on a sound when all of a sudden the kit changed!
Pattern wasnt playing-all my edits were gone.

Love the filter on this thing. Great sound and very interesting concept.
The oscillators also sound very nice.
Lots of creative posibilities.

Whish there was a way to access patches between patterns.

best
Hans

Monomachine questions [Daniel]

2004-01-31 by Joe

Does anyone know if there's a way to freeze the joystick in multi-trig
mode? You can do it in normal mode by just changing tracks, but that
doesn't work with multi-trig.

Also - and I think only Daniel can answer this - is it a bug or a feature
that multi-trig doesn't work in song mode? I can understand not having
certain multi-trig types work; like for example the sequence restart one.
But transposing tracks on the fly or using the joystick to control all of
them oin song mode sure would be nice. What does everyone else think?

Try press STOP twice and it should go away. This bug can occur when
patterns are changed, and will not go away until after the double
STOP. As I mentioned it will be fixed (as far as we know) in the
upcoming update.

Try to get a way to reproduce the bugs or strange behaviour you
experience, and use the form on the www.monomachine.com/beta to
report them! If we can reproduce them we can fix them.

The "change track" trick just interrupts the control message stream.
Like if you would remove the MIDI cable from another synth. You can
do this also with the multi-trig, just exit multi trig and the last
position held will be the current one!

There might be a reason, but I can't think of it now. I'll check if
it's possible to allow multi trig in the song sequencer, would be
good for joystick control indeed!
