[Daniel] What's next with Monomachine?

[Daniel] What's next with Monomachine?

2004-01-30 by tahvenaine2002

Hi,

I think we would like to know what's next with Monomachine. Since
v1.0 has been released, can we still see you here in elektron-group?
We understand that you can't read these posts forever, so it would be
good to hear if you are still going to read these and for how long?

Also, there must be some questions here on the other FX-machines and
other things that are (I believe) planned to some coming OS updates.
Some words about Elektron plans on these things would also be good.

Manuals are third thing. Any idea when these are going to be sent to
beta users?

Finally, there seems to be people here waiting for Machinedrum-
update. Some info on this (if it's true), would be good also.

It has been very nice to be able to post with you here and it also
has been very activating for the elektron-group. After the
Monomachine, maybe we will se you here hanging around again sometimes?

Toni.

Monomachine + Machinedrum update

2004-01-31 by daniel_elektron

Coming up next is a new update for the Monomachine with some bug
fixes and improvements. We will then move over to the Machinedrum and
make an update.

We'll start with the Machinedrum update pretty soon, so now would be
a good time to send us that list over with the compilations of bugs
that the list set to compile. Remember that we can't fix what we
don't know about, or don't know how to reproduce!

The users manuals have already been sent (late last week). It's
almost double the size from the Machinedrum manual!

I won't be able to spend so much time around here anymore. I promised
to hang around during the early beta times of the Monomachine, when
the users manual wasn't there yet. Depending on how much other stuff
I have to do I might jump in every now and then, but don't expect me
to read (or reply to) all of the messages from now on!

Monomachine SFX/60 Question

2004-01-31 by Automatic Panic

I have a few questions about the MM SFX/60.

Before I buy it I would like to know, does it also
have the multitrig function like the SFX6. I did'nt
see the button on the 60 unit in the pics from the
site. Also wanna know, can you program the arpeggiator
to do alot of different patterns? One last question
and please be honest, would you consider the MM a
better replacment for the new Korg Elelctribe MX?
All your help is much Appreciated.

Thanks!

hmmm.....who was supposed to do that again? :-)

well, if the list was never compiled then lets start with these two:
1) after a fresh restart of the MD, enter song mode then try to save
the song; regardless of which slot the song was originally saved to,
the MD will try to save it to the first slot; which pisses me off enormously
because I've lost at least a few songs when I wasn't watching carefully
enough (and didn't expect the bug)

2) the one discussed in here last week... in song mode, if the scale setup
LED is lit for the second portion of the pattern, then song mutes can't be
changed; changing it to the first portion of the pattern fixes the problem
(though clearly this isn't right)

now bring on the new features! :-)

yes it has it. there's a MIDI channel dedicated to just the multitrig.
there's also a MIDI auto channel which routes incoming MIDI data to
whichever the active track is.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by a lot of different patterns. The
arpeggiator is programmable in the following ways: along with choosing
how it should be activated, you can choose the speed and octave length
and you can set the step length as well as offsets for each step.
This can be set by each track, of course. Hope that helps!

Don't know... I have played one. But they seem like different beasts
entirely; i.e. asking if one is replaceable by the other is probably
not applicable.

Thanks Joe!

I just want a machine that does it all, :) Don't we
all, anyays I love the sounds that I have heard from
the MM and I have made up my mind to get one. Now, I
just gotta sell some gear that I am not using. :)

RE: [elektron] Monomachine + Machinedrum update

Id LOVE to see a way to jump to a new pattern without it being qued for
playing, so you could:
Have A01 playing, copy it
Jump to A02 with A01 still playing, paste A01 onto A02
Make some changes, and then switch playback to the new pattern in A02

Would be really handy for live jamming

That won't be possible I'm afraid. The current one playing always
need to be the one in editing focus. That's a basic corner stone in
the MD code... Also would be confusing and would need two pattern
indicators, one for the one playing and one for the next one to play.
I understand the use for it though. If it would be done it probably
would need to be with some "super paste" to another pattern.
