"Monomachine includes Machinedrum features"

2004-02-02 by paolovalladolid

Hi,

I just heard from a salesperson that the Monomachine includes
features from Machinedrum. Is this true? If so, how much?

I'm more interested in the Machinedrum at the moment but if the
Monomachine includes all the Machinedrum features...

Thanks,
Paolo

the monomachine only supports one of the machines
(sample based) in the Machinedrum.
And its only 6 voice polyphonic.
if you look for a drummachine with lots of specialized drumsynths get the
machinedrum.
if you are looking for a great synth with onboard sequencer and some basic drums get
the mono.

i got both and i can really recommend that combi.

sort of.

the MD has essentially four machine types and within each type there
are several percussion-specific machines. the MnM has one percussion
machine (based on one of the MD's machine) with key mapping for different
percussion sounds. the general synthesis parameters are limited compared
to what the similar MD machine has. it can do A LOT (and a few things
the MD can't do) but it's only about 5% as powerful as the MD. namely,
it's monophonic. so at best you can have six percussion tracks going at
once on the MnM (whereas you can have 16 on the MD).

not even close to "all the Machinedrum features". it's just a basic
beatbox that, while great (and far better than any $300 Dr. Rhythm!),
should not be considered a substitute for the Machinedrum.

Thanks for the responses!

I'm currently more interested in a drum machine that can do odd-time
signatures and has experimental potential. D'n'B/glitch is a
direction I want to pursue, or at least start with. Sounds like the
Machinedrum would be the better fit for me.

it certainly sounds like it! :-)
