joystick freeze position + MD private requests

joystick freeze position + MD private requests

2004-02-23 by Matthieu Boulard

Hi there !

I had two series of questions on my beloved swedish gear :

MnM : I can rembember having read somewhere about a joystick < freeze >
function, where you can automatically add some locks corresponding to the
joystick position over the relevant parameters = I'm not sure if it's a real
feature or a request, as that could be with the ramping function a very
powerfull function, can somebody tell me ?

MD : I love this box, but in my wildest dreams I'd have some drum sounds
copied pasted from the md, the snare in particular in E12. I guess it is not
possible but asked just in case...

Ah, another cool stuff would be to be able to say with instrument runs a
double speed, and which one doesn't in a same pattern, but maybe it is too
ambitious...

Otherwise, thanks for those sharing there tracks, it is very inspiring !!!
(nobody made a convincing drum and bass track with electron stuff only, just
curious to hear.. ?)

well, it's a feature and a request! :-) if you play with the MnM long enough,
you'll eventually switch tracks while you're holding the joystick; *this* is
what makes the joystick lock its current values (on the previous track).
all that happens is that the data stream gets interrupted and the previous
track's joy position isn't reset when you switch tracks. but note that to
implement this, you may wish to change to a muted track so as to avoid
screwing up a playing track.

this also works in multi-trig mode. the easiest way is to change to a muted
track and then press the multi-trig button while holding the joystick
(of couse).

this was also a feature request by me a few months ago (I'm sure others
requested it as well). it would still be nice to have a proper way to freeze
the joystick position, especially without having to worry about screwing
up other tracks when changing (and not having a muted track to change to).

have fun!
Joe
