Help with Song Pointer Position

Help with Song Pointer Position

2004-03-03 by davveknas

!! I'm reposting this because I'm still having trouble figuring it
out.

In my current setup Reason is synced to the Mono. But I've no real
experience with this. Is it straightforward that a loop or a repeat
in the song sequencer doesn't sends the pointer position to Reason?

What I want is that my Reason pattern should be repeated also. Any
suggestions?

Also, if I choose for example row 003 in the song sequencer and
starts playing from there, shouldn't Reason jump to the equivalent
time mark then? I want it to do that, but ít doesn't.

This is now solved. After doing some research on what MIDI messages
there actually are, I figured it out. I think it's something like
this:

[Song is playing.] If I press STOP first, and then PLAY, the Mono
will send a 'MIDI Start' command to the slaves. If I instead first
press PLAY (pause), then when I press PLAY again, our precious Mono
will send a 'MIDI Continue' command.

This sounds pretty logical, doesn't it? But, to jump to an arbitrary
position in the song, I need to send a 'Continue'. (Because 'MIDI
Start' always starts at Song Position 0.) That is, I need to first
PLAY/pause the song, then choose a row via UP/DOWN, acknowledge row
by pressing YES, then press PLAY again.

I find this kind of, hmm, not too intuitive. Is this a work-around?
If so, is there a 'real' solution?
