clunky clicking noises when changing patterns on Mono

clunky clicking noises when changing patterns on Mono

2004-05-07 by t_aint

What am I doing wrong...Sometimes when I shift patterns on the
fly there is a jolting noise as the patterns shift from one to
another. I realize that the Monomachine needs a second to do
the shift but is this due to having the decay or release set too
long on the first pattern? Is it it just overload on the machine. I
can't seem to pinpoint the problem. Any help would be much
appreciated.

Does this happen with just a select couple of patterns that you're
changing
between or does it happen to any two patterns? Are the patterns in
question
using different kits?

Only on some patterns and always with different kits. Does not
seem like a bug although I could see something being
programmed to soften this effect. I'm just wondering if I'm doing
some basic hardware sequencing no-no.

I doubt it. check if the filters are positioned at opposite ends of
the spectrum on
each track (between the two patterns in question). because if you end
one pattern
with your filter in one place and start the next with the filter in a
completely different
spot, you'll likely get a loud popping sound.

I usually use the same kit when I'm working with several patterns, so
I've never dealt
with this.

good luck!
Joe

Makes sense and I will look for that. I not only have different filter
settings but the are also moving during the sequence.
Sometimes it makes a nice effect. Sometimes its terrible.

It might be delay, too.

Thanks,

John
