Are your disks new?
If not- I recommend getting some especially where you are testing.
You may also need a new DB25 cable, a bad one can result in odd behavior.
The Zips with auto-select do terminate.
You shouldn't be changing the ID of the Zip drive once it's powered on.
You also can't change the SCSI id # of the drive once Emax is booted.
I assume you are:
setting the ID
turning the drive on
inserting the disk
Then turning on the Emax, booting from floppy… now formatting
What version of software are you using?

Hi all
I’ve just acquired an Emax 2 rack (2213) and I’m trying to connect a SCSI Iomega 100 zip drive. On the back of the drive I have switched the ID to #5 and it is an ‘auto detect’ 25 pin interface so I presume that does away with the need for a termination switch??
Anyway, it’s connected to the SCSI port on the back of the Emax and when I choose to format a disk I can select drive #5 and the display will show IOMEGA ZDRIVE but then when I try to format the disk, it says ‘MEDIA ERROR’. Also, if I use the drive select button, it says it is not an Emax 2 drive.
I have searched and searched for answers but to no
avail. I know the Zip disk is already Emax 2 formatted. Does it matter that the Zip lead is auto detect?
Any answers would be REALLY appreciated.
