Caused by bad 12 bit dac
First remove dacs and clean with deoxit and a fibre glass brush then reset if it still does it
Defeat the voices until you find the voice that is problematic
Once found try a known good chip and see if the problem goes away if it does then its a bad dac
Thats the easiest way if you dont have a scope and logic analyzer

Subject: [emax] Re: static white noise sound on top of EMAX 1 RACKMOUNT samples
I have the same problem in my EMAX, when I trigger samples there is static white-noise digital garbed mess that plays over the sample intermittently. It doesn't do it all the time, but I noticed the more samples I am triggering the more it happens. Also it is pre filter in the signal chain, so it is on the osc level. At first I thought it was just recording that mess instead of the source material when I sampled, but then as it became intermittent, I noticed the source material was fine. Have you discovered the cause or been able to eliminate it by re-seating all the chips?
