From: "moose" <moose@...> > its quite funny now reading about the "huge" potential of 8mb ram & 40mb > hard drive... how times change. the online adverts show just how lucky we > are in these days of the big samplers a la e4xt & z8's. > I still think that's enough potential for plenty of stuff you might want to do.... I believe that modern samplers chuch in more ram *because they can* and to look better on paper. but when you're looking at 256 MB of RAM, you don't need a sampler, you need a HD recorder, maybe with an auto timestretch software... Personally, I have an MPC with 32 meg of RAM that I play live, and it is still only pushing about 20 MB for a 1 hour set. (I also use synths live though..) It's more likely to run out of the actual number of samples it can have in memory, than sample RAM. Though I do find the 1/2 meg of RAM in my emax to be a bit limiting sometimes.. :-P Anyway, hi again... I've seen you around a bit now.... and congratulations on your new purchase! I've often considered the idea of an emaxII, but never quite managed to get one yet. julian -- http://bleepin.com
