Hi,
Nice fully loaded Emax II !
1. E-mu designed the SysEx more for sample transfer than for remote control,
so some nice Mac software sprang up to edit samples (Alchemy, SDII) - all
obsolete these days...The SysEx info is on the web site, download the Emax
RS422 MIDI doc - its the same for the Emax II.
2. No-one has done Windows software for the Emax II.
3. Check out the Northstar Max and Greytsounds CDROM's for drum sounds.
www.northstarsamples.com and www.greytsounds.com
4. Plenty of people have thought of an EMX for Windoze, but none have gone
and done it. EMX can access the floppy drive directly to dig into all those
diskette sectors (E-mu diskette formats are sorta UNIX, not Windows or Mac,
more like Atari). Windows doesn't have that capability, so you need to add
some tricks. ChickenSys are actively working on translating to and from the
Emax I format, I have recently helped them out with the sample format.

Hello all,
1. My EMAX II Turbo (8MB, stereo, 120 MB HD) is kinda the black sheep of
my
studio. It's the only modern instrument I cannot control from my
computer.
I would like to be able to at least browse and select sample banks from my
computer, just as I do with my synths with the Sound Quest MIDI Quest 8
editor/librarian software, but I haven't found anything on the net yet. I
don't even need editing, although that would be a wonderful bonus. Does
anyone know of a program that will do anything along these lines that will
run on Windows XP?
1a. Barring that, does anyone know where I can find the MIDI
implementation
chart and sysex information for the EMAX II? If I get desperate enough, I
might attempt writing an editor module for the EMAX in MIDI Quest.
2. I would like suggestions on good sources of drum samples. I primarily
use my EMAX for drum kits, but I've only mostly been using the stock
factory
sample banks, and those are somewhat lacking.
3. Has anyone ever thought of updating that EMX program to work with
something other than DOS?
