Though it can "force format" a 1.44 disk this is not advised as the properties are 
different and the disk will go corrupt fairly fast. Also if you plan on using EMX you must 
have DS/DD 720k disks.

Depends on what OS you are using. The last Emax OS was 3.12. They didn't really add 
any new features just made it a little more stable and fixed bugs few people probably 
realized were there.

The Emax with an OS disk. That is it really. It's one of those Catch 22 deals. You must 
have the OS to format a disk to have the OS :?

You can't actually get one from E-mu. They turn their heads pretty quickly if you call 
them and say you have an Emax and need support. Your best bet is to talk to Rob over 
at the Emulator Archive http://www.emulatorarchive.com or ask someone on the list. 
Also look under our FILES section some user's have posted other way of making a 
system disk using things like CopyQM.
