Though it can "force format" a 1.44 disk this is not advised as the properties are
different and the disk will go corrupt fairly fast. Also if you plan on using EMX you must
have DS/DD 720k disks.

Depends on what OS you are using. The last Emax OS was 3.12. They didn't really add
any new features just made it a little more stable and fixed bugs few people probably
realized were there.

The Emax with an OS disk. That is it really. It's one of those Catch 22 deals. You must
have the OS to format a disk to have the OS :?

You can't actually get one from E-mu. They turn their heads pretty quickly if you call
them and say you have an Emax and need support. Your best bet is to talk to Rob over
at the Emulator Archive http://www.emulatorarchive.com or ask someone on the list.
Also look under our FILES section some user's have posted other way of making a
system disk using things like CopyQM.

RE: [emax] Emax question

2004-01-31 by Rob Keeble

Hi,
1. Try and use only DS/DD diskettes with an Emax, HD diskettes will fail
over time.
2. The SE update is software only. E-mu wrote some cool DSP software but it
wasn't available at the time of the launch, Dana Massie was the author. He
went on to create Z-plane filters and now works in his own company Flux
Networks working on PDA's.
2A.Latest non-SE OS is 3.2 CD (works with OMI CD players over RS422), latest
OS is Plus 1.0 (for external SCSI). OS 3.2 is stable release, previous
versions have lots of suptle bugs.
3. Emax and Atari ST computers for sure.
4. I supply brand new OS diskettes for all vintage E-mu samplers, along with
samples. Contact me at info@... if you need help.

Regards
Rob
