AW: [emax] No sound on emax II

2004-04-27 by Dr.-Ing. Christian Gritzner

Hi,

I had a similar problem recently: my EmaxII didn't recognized the SCSI
devices including the harddisk after switching it on first time after some
weeks. It only accepted the floppy drive.
I opened it and disconnected and reconnected the memory board but it was
even worse: it couldn't load any sounds, because the memory was gone... "not
enough memory available".
My brother (who is a radio/TV engineer) told me to clean it!
So, I took a vacuum cleaner, a small soft brush, and a hard brush and
disconnected all the board and plugs (be careful to get them reconnected
properly, maybe mark them with a pencil). Then I cleaned the connector pins
with the hard brush and the electronic boards with the soft brush while
taking away the dust with the vacuum cleaner simultaneously.

And now it works perfectly again!!!

You can try that, but be careful not to damage your Emax (e.g. to avoid
damage to the electronics due to static discharge you should get grounded by
touching metal parts of the Emax first before touching the boards, etc.).

Hope it will help!

Best wishes,
Chris

Betreff: [emax] No sound on emax II

Hi.

I've been asking this one before, but now my exmax II is completely
dead. I've got no sound output at all, no matter what patches I load. A
month earlier the emax worked ok, and it has been standing in the studio
since. Suddenly it just became quiet... Has anyone experienced this
behaviour? What can possibly be wrong?

/jens
