Hi! I'm a french guy so please excuse me if my english
isn't so good as yours...
I had the same problem with my Emax but i'm sure that
the floppy is not responsible. What OS version do you
use and did you upgrade your Emax using Emaxutility? I
think i have the answer for this problem but my Emax
isn't near me and i need to have it to describe you
what would you have to do.
See you.

OK for your Emax os version but did you upgrade it
using Emax utility? I must now it: the problem has
occured after using it for me.I will check my Emax
tonight to verify how to proceed. I'm a bit long to
answer because I don't have the web at home. For now,
i'm still an Atari ST addict..!

See you!

No sound on emax II

2004-04-27 by Jens Hellqvist

Hi.

I've been asking this one before, but now my exmax II is completely
dead. I've got no sound output at all, no matter what patches I load. A
month earlier the emax worked ok, and it has been standing in the studio
since. Suddenly it just became quiet... Has anyone experienced this
behaviour? What can possibly be wrong?

The only time my Emax II has ever gone silent is after I open it up. You have to make
sure the ribbon connector to the output board is seated correctly, it typically comes
loose when opening the unit.

Thanks Aaron. Maybe the community will help American
and French relationships? I hope so...
I'm a new member so I have to introduce myself to the
community:
I work at Radio France and I am, say, an electronic
engineer specialized in audio products. If someone
needs help...
I make an heavy use of my Emax, my E4XT Ultra, my
Wavestation, my Drumstation, my DW6000, ... using an
Atari ST with Cubase for sequencing and a Sadie
workstation for recording.
I think i will try Cubase on a PC soon.
See you!

AW: [emax] No sound on emax II

2004-04-27 by Dr.-Ing. Christian Gritzner

Hi,

I had a similar problem recently: my EmaxII didn't recognized the SCSI
devices including the harddisk after switching it on first time after some
weeks. It only accepted the floppy drive.
I opened it and disconnected and reconnected the memory board but it was
even worse: it couldn't load any sounds, because the memory was gone... "not
enough memory available".
My brother (who is a radio/TV engineer) told me to clean it!
So, I took a vacuum cleaner, a small soft brush, and a hard brush and
disconnected all the board and plugs (be careful to get them reconnected
properly, maybe mark them with a pencil). Then I cleaned the connector pins
with the hard brush and the electronic boards with the soft brush while
taking away the dust with the vacuum cleaner simultaneously.

And now it works perfectly again!!!

You can try that, but be careful not to damage your Emax (e.g. to avoid
damage to the electronics due to static discharge you should get grounded by
touching metal parts of the Emax first before touching the boards, etc.).

Hope it will help!

Best wishes,
Chris

Atari ST

2004-04-27 by Bob Conner

I know this is off the Emax subject, but a few people
have mentioned Atari ST.

I have an FTP site for Atari ST/Falcon/Portfolio (some
older Mac and PC stuff too) at:

ftp://67.122.78.102

There's a Web page too at:

http://www.sinasohn.com/abacus/

but it seems to be down right now (I'll have to email
the guy hosting it).

Yours,

Bob
