Re: [emax] Getting Emax II samples into a Mac

2004-05-21 by Lifelike

Hi Heather

You can try Alchemy II from Passport Software on mac, he has the ability to
transfer samples from Emax II and even Emax I.
The software was discontinued because P.Software went down in 1996. You need
to have a SCSI card on your mac, better is to have an old Mac, or send
samples thru midi interface but its fucking slow this way... It works only
on os 9, 8 or even 7.5.3.
I'm not living in Portland, but in Paris / France, if U cant find it we can
try to find another solution... ;-p
cheers

Laurent

(I almost deleted all the "im sad dam" posts because I thought they
were Spams using "I'm Saddam" as a tagline--funny!)

I am coming into the forum with a problem - I have a ton of old Emax II
floppies full of smaples, but no Emax II. I'm on a Mac. I want to get
my old sample banks transferred or converted in some usable way--WAV,
.aif, whatever.

I have heard that there are Windows/PC utilities that can transfer EMAX
II sample banks from an EMax formatted floppy to a PC. Can anyone help
me? There are some internet cafes and such around here that have older
PCs, so I should be able to find one with a floppy drive and internet
access to download the needed apps.

I suppose, failing all this, I could just find someone in town with an
Emax II and transfer the sounds some other way. Any ideas on that?
(short of just re-sampling them with an audio connection, which I think
I can figure out myself)

I am just starting my search, but there are some sounds I created in he
past that I would love to have access to.

Thanks!

- Heather

PS - If there are any people on this list that have an Emax II and are
based in Portland OR, let me know.
