Typically it's going to be printed right on the front panel Emax logo. If it was upgraded to
HD it would typically have an HD sticker near the logo. Barring that you can open the
unit up, and look for the SCSI socket, but that can be very misleading as even non-HD
units have a non-functioning SCSI socket (that had to be replaced by E-mu when
upgraded to HD), if I remember right. It would be very difficult to get an Emax HD by
accident. The port you see on the back is indeed the RS-422 port for sample transfers
and for connecting the OMI CD-Rom drive.
