Emax

i have recently run into the same problem with my Emax/IKE - it worked fine 
when i first got it, but now whenever i sample anything i get a lot of noise, no 
matter what sample rate or gain setting i use.

in addition, when i am on the VU page, i get a strange repeated high pitched 
square wave-ish rising tone monitoring the output - which happens whether  
the volume is up or down on the Emax! this happens whether or not i have a 
1/4" cable plugged into the sample input.

i suspect i have a flaky A/D converter but i don't have any way that i know of to 
check (don't think the diagnostics do that, not as far as i could tell. already 
recalibrated everything there was to do).

if someone knows what's happening, i would gratefully appreciate the insight
