Some please help, this is the third post I've made and no one has responded.

Hey if you're reading this, Thank you!

I've had my Emax rack for a month, so I'm just getting familiar with it. Just yesterday I
sampled some drums into it @ 28khz and it sounded fine. About 15 minutes later I
sampled something the same drum loop and it was way noisy... alot of fuzziness to the
sound. I noticed that the noise is increased inbetween transients and it happens with
everything I sample from that point forward. Can anyone explain why this is happening?
I'm thinking if it's the power supply.....

somebody respond please!!!! I know you're out there, I get the emails..... just not when it
comes to my posts....

Thanx, MKR

I'm guessing the source sounds fine when you monitor
it?

Also that you have swapped out all audio cables, tried
adjusting line levels in, tried adjusting the line out
volume, tried listing to the sample though a different
Emax output, tried listing to the sample though a
different amp/head phone, checked your sample
settings, tried sampling at a different rate, and have
eleiminated a bad plug on any patch bay, mixer (and
levels), outboard effects?

Checked for ground loops?

Does this happen when you sample something else?

yeah I did all of that....and it happens when ever I
sample anything after that first good take.... I don't
have any grounding problems... and and I dont know
what could be causing it....

sounds like it needs repair, but wait for some other
responses.

It sounds like old components.... at least its confined to just the
sampling input.

I'd suggest you take the emax to a repairer and get the audio in circuit
re-capped. It could also be the silicon, so probably worth your while to
get any opamps in the input circuit swapped out too.

Re: Some please help, this is the third post I've made and no one has responded.

i have recently run into the same problem with my Emax/IKE - it worked fine
when i first got it, but now whenever i sample anything i get a lot of noise, no
matter what sample rate or gain setting i use.

in addition, when i am on the VU page, i get a strange repeated high pitched
square wave-ish rising tone monitoring the output - which happens whether
the volume is up or down on the Emax! this happens whether or not i have a
1/4" cable plugged into the sample input.

i suspect i have a flaky A/D converter but i don't have any way that i know of to
check (don't think the diagnostics do that, not as far as i could tell. already
recalibrated everything there was to do).

if someone knows what's happening, i would gratefully appreciate the insight

I think you need to get it repaired or replaced.
