Re: [emax] noticed Emax with an XLR output

That maybe on the US tour but I have video of martin and others during the 1993 European tour playing the Emax 2 which is clear as day and quite easy to spot. This Emax 2 has an XLR out where the main outs or mix would be, not sure if your rig line up is accurate but I have it on tape and have watched it many times.

The reason I asked this question is that anyone playing in a synth band or any electronic musician knows that getting lots quarter inch lines to the house hundreds of feet away is bad news.
The only thing you can do is to purchase GOOD QUALITY line transformers at $50.00 each and double that if your running in stereo L & R and that's only one synth!

When I saw this I was quite impressed and curious about how this is done direct off the board, last year I researched Line transformers and discovered that there were no dual channel rack versions for running lots of lines for electronic musicians so I started to manufacture them.

If all goes well I may have them available on the www.Route66studios.com site but for now it's just building stages.
 Rich

From http://www.tuug.fi/~jaakko/dm/keyboards.html

Devotional Tour -

"Martin Gore plays a Roland A-50 and Alan Wilder plays an Akai MX1000, each
controlling two Emulator Emax II samplers; Andrew Fletcher has another pair of
Emaxes.
Each pair is hooked up in parallel, so if one were to malfunction, the other is
ready. But "I
don't remember an instance when we had to go to a spare," says Wob Roberts, the
keyboard technician. Samples come from strange and sundry sources, including old

analog equipment."

To the best of my knowledge (front row seats and the DVD) none of the Emax II's
had
XLR outputs.
