Congrats, good thing you figured that out. those are the things that catch us experienced types ;)
I must admit I am a little confused as to how the emax handles the individual outs, since assigning them to one channel doesn;t remove it from the stereo outs. I guess it's just voice outs, but it makes it harder to use the stereo outs with some indi outs since when those voices are active you will get it from both. And patching all 8 outs is possible but then annoying as you have 8 volume controls and EQ's to mess with even if it's just a string patch.
there has got to be a better way. one of these days I'll really try and understand it.

Hey elmacaco and everyone else that replied.. Big thanks..
Sorry for the delay but I have had almost zero time over the last 10
days for testing but I have now cracked it. The problem was: me being
a complete knob! I initially rigged it up using 4 outputs and these
were not set to the same level in my digital mixer where my 4 Emax
outs were routed to my second set of inputs (17-32) so the faders did
not show the level (confused?!)
I noticed that it was not actually a velocity issue but rather the 1st
and 3rd voice as you loop through the voices. So I then set about
messing around with the calibration stuff, setting the levels and
filter. It was during this process that I discovered the above so
then continued the calibration using a single mono out into my mixer.
Finally I have all the voices sounding the same..
So thanks again everyone...
PS: this thing really does sound great..
