Your drive was not dead, it just stopped spinning.  If you open up the hex screws and give it a few spins, then connect it back up, it will work fine.  If it stops again, just punch your emax where the drive is (on the rack this is where the menu legending is) and it'll spin up and work again.

Nice to boot off the HD and have it around.  Also, If you're going to throw it away, throw it my way ;)

  No, I got rid of the drive because It was dead.  I guess you do have
