Hi Jip

Is this the scsi card reader you have connected to an Emax and are you able to read and write sample banks to the card as it would on a harddrive?:

  Best regards

Yipee Yahoo... I finally got it. Thanks to this forum because without it, I would not have had a clue. It took a lot of trial and error but I am glad I hung in there.

I got the upgrade to O.S. Plus to finally work and I connected a Microtech external SCSI card reader and I saw the light. It formatted and copied the files in a flash. To test it, I re-booted without the floppy and whadda u know, it loaded everything up in a flash.

Man o man, Thanks to this forum.

A special "Thanks" to E-synthesist, Elmacaco and Ted. Ted you really opened my eyes in confirming that the HD was there. E-man you alerted me that I was totally confused and help think about what the heck I was trying to do.

I feel like I just won a grammy.

Ted this is good news. I have a zip drive so I am going to work now on uploading O.S. Plus and then try the zip to see if I can get it to work. I will post the result.

Everyone in this thread---- if the blue connector you see is this one
(I put into my keyboard from a rack unit - see attached picture), it
IS a SCSI port. While db25 is commonly used as a serial, it is also
used as a SCSI-1 (5 MB/s) connector. I used this connector to hook
to my external zip drive. If you look closely at the logic board in
the emax you will see that the pins for this connector hook in line
with the wide scsi connector for the hard drive and from there go to
the 5380 SCSI controller.
Hope this helps some people that thought they didn't have scsi but
actually do If you have this connector, you should be able to load
the plus os or HD os.... on my keyboard there was a plate where the
connector is now. So if you didn't have scsi they put a plate instead
of the connector.
