The OS you need to use external SCSI would be Plus OS 1.0. If you do not have external scsi and are not adding it, then you could use SE HD 1.1 Sounds like the os on the Hard drive is not an SE enabled OS. So take your SEHD1.1 OS and copy to the hard disk according to the manual and that will fix the hard drive. Just remember that if you boot from any other floppy, it will not have the functions on the os- you have to re-write the os to any floppy that you want to boot from....
