Very true!!! i find the emax puts a real oomph on complete beats. it works best for me sampling complete beats and then put them back into the drummachine. sampling single hits works well too not least because you can mix it better but you kinda loose that pumping compression when you programme the beat back in the drummachine with single hits. I am tempted to maybe fork out the dosh for an sp1200 if at all possible just to avoid all that time consuming sampling re-sampling malarky to get that sound? what do you think? also, when too noisy: there is a cheap and cheerful hardware denoiser/gate by behringer that works very well getting rid of noise without altering the sound hardly at all, especially if you can add a little highend before going into it. it works great on vocals, guitars, bass etc etc too. --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "Lyn Oakey" <lynoakey@...> wrote: > > If you want extra noise just make sure you don't sample at the optimum level. > That way you don't make use of the best signal/noise ratio, i.e. you sample > with less bits ! > > Don't forget you can also use the analogue processing section > to "get rid of" and "add to" noise. > > Generally speaking, the more you move away (downwards) from the original Sample key, > the more grainy it becomes. > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: manicpeter > To: emax@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Wednesday, October 31, 2007 2:27 PM > Subject: [emax] Re: Noizey emax! > > > Hi there, > > don't get me wrong but isnt the point of the Emax that it is noisey > and grimey? > > I sample drums into the emax and then back into my MPC XL.
