Are you booting from your disk drive ?
If so, you could just have a dirty drive that can be
fixed with a disk drive cleaner that you can get at
office supply stores.

I had a unit that kept hanging-up on booting from the
disk drive, saying bad disk or disk error or something
like that and it was just dirty.

  It would do that even with no disk in the drive..it
was dirty enough that it couldn't get past the disk
drive check to boot from the internal drive.
