Hmm... I sense a dodgy piece of translation software has been at work here!

Maybe the 'bellboys' are on strike? :-)

Sorry, couldn't resist!

I guess the issue is that this Emax is hanging after loading?

What does it display on the screen after loading the bank?

Do ANY disks load successfully, or are they all hanging the machine?

Cheers,

Mike.

If I understand this correctly, my Emax HDSE is doing something very
similar. The last couple of gigs it has not wanted to read the
operating system. It powers up, but the usual start up noises are
very slow, and it won't read the discs or something. I need to bring
it home and read the LCD and post. It has been very unnerving trying
to get it functioning at a gig. I have had to turn it on/off many
times until it reads properly and starts functioning. I'm looking
into getting an es-4000 rack for samles and getting an Alesis ion as
my second keyboard controller. I will post with the error message
I'm encountering. Maybe someone can help me and critico1. -Alan

Are you booting from your disk drive ?
If so, you could just have a dirty drive that can be
fixed with a disk drive cleaner that you can get at
office supply stores.

I had a unit that kept hanging-up on booting from the
disk drive, saying bad disk or disk error or something
like that and it was just dirty.

It would do that even with no disk in the drive..it
was dirty enough that it couldn't get past the disk
drive check to boot from the internal drive.

I hope that helps.....
Respect,
Dave

May be my problem. I will try that and report back. Is the disc
cleaner a spray or is it a floppy you insert? I will check out
office max or office depot. Thanks for the tip. -Alan

PS Fixed, but now Other Glitches...

2008-03-03 by Peter

Hi All,

Thanks for the advice re: my rebooting/dying Emax 1. The good news is
that I now have it stable (cleaning/resoldering the PS connections as
well as getting a new, better-suited power cable did the trick!) and
it no longer shuts down or reboots spontaneously.

The bad news, though, is that I'm having other problems, but these may
be due to my being a novice who couldn't fully explore the machine
with the ongoing PS problems I was having... more specifically, now
that its working and I can fully play around with it, I've made many
disks in EMXP, some of which work, and some of which dont.
Specifically, the upgrade to emax OS 3.2 didnt work- it tells me its a
bad disk, and does so no matter how many copies I make, from different
sources- how does one upgrade the OS? Just reboot with the OS disk in?

Also: with my working sound bank disks, whenever I try to apply any of
the analog filters or whatnot, it tells me "invalid OS version" or
"bad bank" when the disk works just fine in default sound mode. In
other words, I can't get any of the filters/effects/sample-options to
work, which is frustrating... any ideas?

Similarly, all my sound disks seem to read as "bad bank" if I reboot
the machien with one in, but if I boot with the OS disk in, they work
afterwards, even though the OS disk boots as "bad bank/disk".

I'm getting a bit frustrated, and can't seem to find much specific
information about these issues, novice issues as they may be, so any
tips or links in the right direction would be surely appreciated!

Thanks a ton, yet again...

Peter
