I was thinking about the diskdrive, why don't you just replace it with a 
new 'IDE' one?
If you need to change the ID of the diskdrive (from ID1 to ID0) you can 
twist the conductors of the flatribbon-cable like picture below.
Twist the conductors 10, 11, and 12, the red conductor is always #1. Doing 
this you don't need to solder the diskdrive or anything.
