My guess is that it's the internal drive causing the issue. Perhaps it has it's termination 
turned on as well. My Set-up is just like what you are attempting, I have an internal HD 
set to ID #1 and a Syquest EZ-135 set to ID #2 with the terminator connected. I have no 
issues. If the internal drive is working prior to the EZ-135 then my guess is it is 
terminating and needs to have that turned off.

As far the the Emax II reporting that the Syquest drive is "Not EMAX2 DRIVE" that is 
correct. Until you let the Emax format a cartridge in the drive technically it's not an Emax 
II drive, but at least by the Emax reporting that you know it is seeing and trying to read 
the drive.
